The U.K. government announced a $400 million “Winter Survival Package” to aid sports organizations in England while fans are banned from sporting events due to the coronavirus pandemic. Largely comprised of loans, the package will be distributed across national governing bodies, leagues and clubs.

Funding will be dispersed among 11 sports: rugby union, rugby league, horse racing, soccer, motorsport, tennis, netball, basketball, ice hockey, badminton and greyhound racing. Rugby union will receive the most of any sport, with $78 million being dedicated to Premiership Rugby clubs. England’s top two tiers of women’s soccer, the Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship, will get $4 million.

Fennelly said he has since tested negative along with everyone in the Iowa State program but is following medical advice that includes the quarantine.

Latest: Contract health workers arrive in Montana to help

HELENA, Mont. — The Montana governor’s office says more than 100 contracted medical staff have arrived in the state to assist hospitals in responding to the spike in COVID-19 cases.

The 110 health care workers are part of an anticipated total of 200 to be deployed in the state before Thanksgiving and who will remain until the end of the year.

The workers, including registered nurses and respiratory therapists, will aid hospitals that are at or near capacity as part of a contract between the state and NuWest, which provides traveling health care workers.

State health officials reported 677 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, bringing total confirmed cases to more than 56,000.

The SailGP global league has added two new regattas to open its pandemic-delayed second season and moved the previously announced season opener in San Francisco to April 2022, making it the $1 million, winner-take-all finale.

Season 2 will now begin April 24-25 in Bermuda, which hosted the 2017 America’s Cup. The tour will then move to Taranto, Italy, June 5-6.

A full schedule of nine regattas is still being firmed up.

The second season of racing in foiling 50-foot catamarans had been set to begin with races in San Francisco and New York. The schedule was shifted to ensure greater certainty and reduce travel early in 2021. New York will not host a regatta in the second season but likely will early in the third season.
