The microscope uses a combination of hardware and software-based adaptive optics to reconstruct object image — ScienceDaily

Non-invasive microscopic techniques such as optical coherence microscopy and two-photon microscopy are commonly used for in vivo imaging of living tissues. When light passes through turbid materials such as biological tissues, two types of light are generated: ballistic photons and multiply scattered photons. The ballistic photons travel straight through the object without experiencing any deflection and hence is used to reconstruct the object image. On the other hand, the multiply scattered photons are generated via random deflections as the light passes through the material and show up as speckle noise in the reconstructed image. As the light propagates through increasing distances, the ratio between multiply scattered and ballistic photons increases drastically, thereby obscuring the image information. In addition to the noise generated by the multiply scattered light, optical aberration of ballistic light also causes contrast reduction and image blur during the image reconstruction process.

Google Pixel 5 may soon gain smart Adaptive Sound feature

  • Google is developing an automatic equalizer adjustment feature for Pixels.
  • Dubbed Adaptive Sound, the feature tweaks audio settings based on environment acoustics.
  • The Google Pixel 5 will likely receive the feature in an update, but it’s unclear if any other Pixels will join it.

The forthcoming Google Pixel feature drop could include a new toy for music lovers. Dubbed Adaptive Sound, the feature was uncovered on a Google Pixel 5 by XDA‘s APK sleuths.

The feature confusingly shares its name with a Google Pixel Buds feature. But while Adaptive Sound on the Buds automatically adjusts the volume levels on the fly to suit the wearer’s environment, Adaptive Sound on Pixel phones will tweak the equalizer instead.

While playing music on a Pixel phone, Adaptive Sound may up the bass and treble in noisier environments, or drop both in quieter settings. The feature uses

Microsoft’s Xbox Adaptive Controller Went Through A Unique Evolution During The Design Process

Microsoft has focused a lot of energy over the last few years into making Xbox more accessible, with the Xbox Adaptive Controller being a positive step towards addressing the unique needs of players. A product of the Xbox accessibility movement and a team of engineers in the Xbox gaming division, the controller went through numerous iterations when it was in development. Direct feedback from gaming and disabled communities helping to shape the final product into its current form.

“The Xbox Adaptive Controller looks absolutely nothing like the first prototype created,” Brannon Zahand, Microsoft’s senior gaming accessibility program manager, explained to Game Informer. “It changed many, many times over the course of development. The reason was that we built the device with the Gaming & Disability Community, not for them. As such, feedback constantly was rolling in that forced us to continually re-examine the design of the product during development.”

Google brings new Adaptive Protection technology to its Cloud Armor network security service

Google on Wednesday announced a bevy of updates across its Network Security portfolio for Google Cloud customers. New features include enhancements to existing DDoS protections, as well as new capabilities that aim to help customers protect data and applications in the cloud.

The most significant update is Google’s new Cloud Armor Adaptive Protection networking security technology, which leverages machine learning to protect against Layer 7 DDoS attacks.

Cloud Armor is a distributed denial of service (DDoS) defense and web application firewall (WAF) service that relies on the same technology and infrastructure that powers Google services. Available since 2019, Cloud Armor also offers IP whitelisting and blacklisting tools and integrates with Google’s Cloud HTTP(S) Load Balancing service.

Google said its new Adaptive Protection technology within Cloud Armor uses multiple machine learning models to analyze security signals across web services to detect potential attacks. The Adaptive Protection system can detect high volume

What CIOs must do to create resilient and adaptive future enterprises

As the chief owners of the digital infrastructure that underpins all aspects of modern enterprises, CIOs must play pivotal roles in the road to recovery, “seeking the next normal” while still performing their traditional roles. A new IDC study outlines concrete actions that CIOs can and must take to create resilient and adaptive future enterprises with technology.

CIOs resilient

“In a time of turbulence and uncertainty, CIOs and senior IT leaders must discern how IT will enable the future growth and success of their enterprise while ensuring its resilience,” said Serge Findling, VP of Research for IDC‘s IT Executive Programs (IEP).

“The ten predictions in this study outline key actions that will define the winners in recovering from current adverse events, building resilience, and enabling future growth.”

Predictions to keep CIOs resilient

Prediction 1 – #CIOAIOPS: By 2022, 65% of CIOs will digitally empower and enable front-line workers with data, AI,

The Ascent Of The Adaptive Business

By Jim Stoneham, CMO, Stripe

Stripe is a Business Reporter client.

This year, most companies have faced unprecedented challenges to their businesses. The global pandemic has raised one critical question in particular: how can companies continue to reach customers?

The answer from many corners of the globe is by moving commerce online. Thirteen million people in Latin America made their first online purchase in March. In the US, e-commerce volumes have jumped by 49 per cent since April. China’s online grocery market is set to grow by 63 per cent this year, doubling the pace of change in how the world’s most populous country accesses its food. Six out of ten European consumers say their online buying habits will stay the same post-pandemic.

An adaptive business initiates change; an agile business reacts to it.”

Today, there’s a race to join the online economy – one that few companies

Xilinx To Advance Mass 5G Roll-Out With New Zynq Adaptive Radio Platform

Although today’s news of AMD’s proposed acquisition of Xilinx is likely going to garner the lion’s share of media attention in the short term, the adaptive computing leader concurrently announced a new line of silicon solutions that could significantly impact 5G network build-outs in the future.

Earlier today, Xilinx revealed a its Zynq RFSoC DFE (Digital Front-End), which represents a news class of adaptive radio platform that combines hardened DFE blocks with adaptable logic in an effort to provide flexible solutions for the quickly advancing 5G ecosystem. The Zynq RFSoC DFE is designed for high-performance, cost and power-efficient 5G NR (New Radio) applications covering 5G low-, mid-, and high- band spectrum where Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC and RFSoC products have previously been deployed.

“For the first time, Xilinx is providing a wireless radio platform with more hardened application-specific IP
