Adobe releases Arm beta version of Photoshop for Windows and macOS

Adobe is releasing Arm versions of Photoshop for Windows and macOS today. The beta releases will allow owners of a Surface Pro X or Apple’s new M1-powered MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini to run Photoshop natively on their devices. Currently, Photoshop runs emulated on Windows on ARM, or through Apple’s Rosetta translation on macOS.

Native versions of Photoshop for both Windows and macOS should greatly improve performance, just in time for Apple to release its first Arm-powered Macs. While performance might be improved, as the app is in beta there are a lot of tools missing. Features like content-aware fill, patch tool, healing brush, and many more are not available in the beta versions currently.

Adobe lists a number of known issues for both macOS and Windows, but does note that new features will be added in the weeks ahead. The beta version isn’t officially supported for daily

Adobe releases new security fixes for Connect, Reader Mobile

Adobe has released a small security update to resolve vulnerabilities in Connect and Reader Mobile.

The tech giant’s standard monthly security release included two advisories; one relating to the Adobe Connect remote conferencing and collaboration tool, and the other to Reader Mobile, a mobile version of the firm’s .PDF document reader and manager.

The first advisory details CVE-2020-24442 and CVE-2020-24443, two reflected cross-site scripting (XSS) issues in Connect. The bugs, considered “important,” can be exploited to execute arbitrary JavaScript code in a browser.

Why Tom Siebel thinks Adobe, Microsoft, and C3.ai can beat Salesforce

  • Salesforce has long been the dominant name in customer relationship management software. But the CRM industry was actually invented in the 1990’s by billionaire Tom Siebel.
  • Now Siebel’s current company, a startup called C3.ai valued at $3.3 billion, has joined forces with Adobe, and Microsoft to take on Salesforce with industry-specific, AI-backed CRM.
  • Siebel tells Business Insider he’s confident he can win this market because Salesforce has “been talking about AI for about a decade,” he said. “It’s all marketing and very little technology.”
  • Visit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.

In 1993, Tom Siebel launched Siebel Systems. Soon after, in 1995, the company introduced Siebel Sales Enterprise, the world’s first customer management software — a tool that at-the-time helped salespeople keep track of interactions with current and potential clients.

It was the start of what would become a growing $80 billion market called “customer relationship management” (CRM) — one

Adobe tries using AI to fix blurry video footage

Between things like camera shake and poor lighting, the videos you take with your phone, DSLR or mirrorless camera can end up blurry for any numbers of reasons. Worse yet, it’s difficult to sharpen a photo or video after the fact, and more often than not, the results don’t look great. However, with the help of AI, Adobe thinks it may have the solution for blurry photos and videos.

Blurred background. Pedestrians hurrying to transport

During the Sneaks portion of its Max 2020 conference, the company showed off an experimental feature called Sharp Shots that’s powered by its Sensei AI. It uses machine learning to deblur each frame of a video. The results can be a bit hard to appreciate in a compressed YouTube clip, but they mostly speak for themselves. You can see in the videos that Adobe shared that there’s a significant difference in image clarity. It’s most
