Link found between drought and HIV among women in less-developed countries — ScienceDaily

Current research predicts that by 2025, 1,800 million people are expected to be living in countries or regions with insufficient water resources, and models show increased severity of droughts in years to come. Food insecurity and other consequences of droughts will become intensified, influencing disease vulnerabilities among populations in less-developed countries. New research from Kelly Austin, associate professor of sociology at Lehigh University, explores how droughts shape gender inequalities in the HIV burden, indirectly through increased food insecurity.

The paper, “Drying Climates and Gender Suffering: Links Between Drought, Food Insecurity, and Women’s HIV in Less-Developed Countries,” is published in Social Indicators Research.

This study builds on previous attempts to explain women’s disproportionate share of global HIV cases through biological, cultural and socioeconomic inequalities by bringing the environment and climate-related disasters into the discussion.

AOC Is Streaming Among Us Right Now, Watch Here

For the second time ever, US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is streaming Among Us right now. Following her record-breaking stream, AOC is taking part in another stream, this time one organized by Jagmeet Singh, leader of the Canadian New Democratic Party. The stream is ongoing, and it features well-known video game streamers such as HasanAbi, Northernlion, and XQC, who, notably, was recently banned temporarily from Twitch. That was due to a cheating incident in a recent Fall Guys tournament.

  • “Among Us” is a very popular game
  • It’s so popular that cybercriminals are using fake versions to spread malware into devices
  • A company has discovered more than 60 impostor apps online

Security researchers have discovered many real-life impostors masquerading as InnerSloth’s popular game, “Among Us.” These fake apps have been designed for various uses, including dropping malware into the devices they were downloaded and installed into.

Promon, a Norwegian company specializing in in-app protection, together with Wultra, has discovered more than 60 fake apps disguised as the popular multiplayer deduction game, “Among Us,” TechRadar reported. The apps, the security company said, were created by cybercriminals who are “exploiting the popularity of the multiplayer game to distribute malware.”

According to the investigation, all of the fake apps are coded to use the real app’s package name, meaning users will not be able to spot the difference unless they know
