The future of the long-vacant downtown Pensacola Technology Park is still unclear after a request for proposals process yielded no interest from developers.

Earlier this year, the Pensacola-Escambia Promotion and Development Commission, or PEDC, put out a request for proposals to developers for any type of project after it failed to secure companies that would bring high-paying technology jobs, which was the property’s original purpose. The RFP period began in June and ended at the end of October.

“We gave it as long as we could to make sure everybody got a chance to respond and we did not get any responses,” said Sena Maddison, spokeswoman for FloridaWest Economic Development Alliance.
