‘Massive Jump In Imaging Capability,’ Travel Photographer Says

  • Apple’s new iPhone 12 Pro Max is here
  • This device features the best camera setup in the series
  • A professional photographer took it for a test drive to see how it performs

Travel photographer Austin Mann tested the new iPhone 12 Pro Max’s rear camera capabilities and said it and the smaller iPhone 12 Pro both had “a massive jump in imaging capability.”

Mann, who also reviewed last year’s iPhone 11 Pro’s mobile photography capabilities, took the new iPhone 12 Pro Max on a trip to see how it will do when used to capture photos in varying locations, times of day, and light settings.

Here are some of the things Mann said about the new 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max’s rear camera:

“We can now capture photos of the Milky Way with an iPhone — crazy!”

The photographer said he took photos of the night sky immediately

With camera hidden in his bowler hat, German photographer captured drama behind the scenes | Arts

In this series, Lagniappe presents a different work each week from the collection of the New Orleans Museum of Art, with commentary from a curator.

Dubbed the “King of the Indiscreet,” Erich Salomon was one of the first investigative photojournalists, and used small cameras (including an Ermanox which could be concealed in his bowler hat) to take clandestine photographs of political intrigue.

The German photographer also modified a Leica camera to take candid photographs in extreme low-light conditions, as he found in a smoky back room at the Hague in 1930.

Taken at 2 a.m., this photograph reveals foreign emissaries after a long day of negotiations over World War I reparations to Germany. When it was published in the London Graphic, the photograph became something of a sensation, because it offered people around the world a glimpse backstage, a view of political power that had previously only been accessible to

Photographer Austin Mann Shares iPhone 12 Pro Max Camera Review

When it comes to testing the camera features in new iPhone models, photographer Austin Mann’s detailed reviews are second to none. iPhone 12 Pro Max reviews went live this morning, and Mann’s in-depth camera test is also now available.

Mann’s review a must-read review for anyone who is interested in the ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ Max for its camera, because this is the first year in some time that Apple has introduced different cameras in the Pro and Pro Max models. The Pro Max has a larger sensor and larger pixels, plus a different telephoto lens.

Despite the improvements in the ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌ Max over the Pro, Mann said that in his testing, he could “barely see a difference” between the two iPhones in most lighting conditions. The exception was semi-low-light scenes, such as just after sunset or in a night urban scene.

In these situations, the ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌

Photographer Austin Mann reviews the iPhone 12 Pro Max camera

Travel photographer Austin Mann has taken the iPhone 12 Pro Max to Utah’s Zion National Park, providing a look at what 2020’s highest-end iPhone camera is capable of.

In October, Austin Mann reviewed the iPhone 12 Pro at Glacier National Park in Montana, praising the improvement to the lineup over the iPhone 11 lineup. Now, he’s taken the iPhone 12 Pro Max to Utah to see how it stands up against its smaller counterpart.

Mann goes on record stating that he prefers the size of the iPhone 12 Pro to its larger, more expensive sibling. Yet, he was curious to see what sort of improvements the iPhone 12 Pro Max boasted over the rest of the lineup.

He points out that the most significant improvement was in wide and handheld shots in semi-low-light environments. He says that the iPhone 12 Pro Max needed less time in night mode, which enabled

More zoom with the 2.5x telephoto lens

I love the telephoto zoom lens on the iPhone 11 Pro, but at only 2x, it doesn’t always provide quite the level of zoom I want. I often find myself digitally zooming in further to get the exact

Photographer Austin Mann Tests the iPhone 12 Pro’s Camera

Travel photographer Austin Mann usually performs an in-depth review of new iPhone models to test their camera performance in real-world scenarios. To test Apple’s new iPhone 12 Pro, Mann traveled to Glacier National Park, Montana.

Mann focused on some of the biggest camera upgrades with the ‌iPhone 12 Pro‌, including the upgraded Wide lens, Ultra Wide Night mode, and LiDAR autofocus, across a range of conditions and environments.

The upgraded 26mm Wide angle lens with a f/1.6 aperture performed better in low light, according to Mann. In a 30-second exposure shot with almost no visible light (above), he found that Night mode and the Wide lens worked extremely well together.

When investigating the new seven-element Wide lens for better edge-to-edge sharpness, Mann shot images with lots of detail in the corners of the frame, but did not see better results than on the iPhone 11 Pro.

On the other hand,
