Smartphone Sales Declined Again in Q3

Smartphone makers sold 360 million units in the third quarter of 2020, a decline of 3.6 percent compared to the 373.7 million sold in the year-ago quarter. That’s according to data averaged between Gartner and IDC, as always.

Apple on Track for Strong Holiday Sales for AirPods, IPhone 12, Analyst Says

Apple  (AAPL) – Get Report is likely to see the AirPods and IPhone 12 flying off the shelves this holiday shopping season, a Wedbush analyst said Wednesday. 

Shares of the Cupertino, Calif.-based tech giant were up nearly 1% to $116.15 on Wednesday morning.

Analyst Daniel Ives, who has an outperform rating on Apple with a $150 price target, said that “as we head into Black Friday and the start of holiday shopping season we are seeing a surge of consumer demand for Apple’s AirPods Pro with some good discounts on the horizon.”

Dell sees sales above estimates on booming demand for remote-work tools

(Reuters) – Dell Technologies Inc forecast current-quarter sales above market expectations as a pandemic-driven shift to remote work and learning powered demand for its desktops and notebooks, helping it post a surprise rise in third-quarter revenue.

The company said, on an earnings call with analysts on Tuesday, that it expects fourth-quarter revenue to rise 3% to 4% sequentially, implying a range between $24.18 billion and $24.42 billion, compared with analysts’ average expectation of $23.09 billion.

The PC maker’s shares were last up marginally in volatile after-market trading, as adjusted earnings matched Wall Street expectations of $2.03 per share.

Best Buy Q3 online sales surge, stock falls on lack of forecast

Best Buy posted booming sales Tuesday, including online orders almost tripling, as demand for home electronics and entertainment products continues to soar during the pandemic. Xiaomi logs record sales in Q3, smartphone biz shines again

Hong Kong, Nov 24 (IANS)  Xiaomi on Tuesday announced its third quarter results, beating industry estimates with record revenue and net profit riding on the stellar performance of its smartphone business.

The China-based company registered 72.2 billion yuan (nearly $1.09 billion) in the September quarter — a 34.5 per cent (on-year) growth, with a net profit of 4.1 billion yuan.

Smartphone revenues was 47.6 billion yuan — registering (on year) growth of 47.5 per cent with a global shipment of 46.6 million units.

In Q3 2020, Xiaomi’s revenue from overseas markets increased 52.1 per cent to 39.8 billion yuan, accounting for 55.1 per cent of total revenue.
