PS5 Rest Mode Reportedly Causing Technical Issues

The PS5’s Rest mode is supposed to make it easier for players to pick up where they left off, just like its PS4 incarnation. Unfortunately, several PS5 owners–including multiple GameSpot staffers–have reported the console’s Rest mode appears to be causing a variety of technical issues, from persistent crashes to outright wiping saves.

Most users who have experienced these issues have been forced to rebuild their PS5’s database, similar to what happens when you accidentally unplug the system or experience a power outage. However, there appears to be no solution to the save-wiping issue. Some users have even reported that Rest mode can brick your PS5, though it’s not clear if that’s actually the case. It seems the vast majority of these complaints involve Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which led Insomniac’s James Stevenson to say that they’re investigating the issue.

How China and Germany became partners on technical standardization

Much of the 5G discussion has focused on Trump administration sanctions against Chinese telecom giant Huawei. But the growing U.S.-China tech war extends to a broader issue: global dominance over technological standards. Republicans warn about America’s “woeful absence” in the setting of technical standards for 5G networks, along with calls for Washington to work with “allies to stanch the spread” of Huawei’s influence.

Meanwhile, President-elect Joe Biden may be more likely to welcome the recent proposal of a “tech alliance” among democratic countries to counter China’s “use of technology standards and its tech sector as instruments of state power abroad.”

Who will claim global leadership on 5G — as well as artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies? The competition is fierce. China’s focus on moving from standard-taker to standard-maker

US stocks surged on Monday after Pfizer and BioNtech said a COVID-19 vaccine they developed demonstrated an efficacy rate of more than 90% in its 44,000 patient phase 3 trial.

That move higher in stocks helped propel the S&P 500 above a key technical resistance level: its September 2 high of 3,588. A decisive close above that level would signal a continuation of the current uptrend in stocks and suggest that

Weather and technical problems further delay SLS Green Run test

WASHINGTON — A critical test of the core stage of the Space Launch System is facing another delay, this time because of a combination of weather and technical issues that may push back the test to the end of the year.

NASA announced late Nov. 6 that it was delaying the final phases of the Green Run test of the SLS core stage, including a full-duration static-fire test of its four engines. That test had been scheduled for mid-November, a date confirmed by officials with NASA and Boeing, the SLS prime contractor, less than a month earlier.

One reason for this slip was Hurricane Zeta, which passed near the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, where the Green Run tests are taking place, Oct. 28. While the hurricane did not damage the core stage or its test stand, it did cause damage elsewhere at the center and in the community. Some

HTG Demonstrates Technical Feasibility for a Whole Transcriptome Panel Using HTG EdgeSeq Technology

TUCSON, Ariz., Nov. 02, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — HTG Molecular Diagnostics, Inc. (Nasdaq: HTGM) (HTG), a life science company whose mission is to advance precision medicine, today announced the completion of proof of concept for a whole transcriptome panel using the HTG EdgeSeq technology, and release of a White Paper illustrating the feasibility and performance of this prototype panel relative to RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq). As previously discussed, HTG is developing a whole transcriptome panel utilizing the HTG EdgeSeq technology to measure approximately 20,000 mRNA targets, with a planned RUO launch in mid-2021.

“Demonstrating technical feasibility of a prototype panel covering the whole transcriptome with our HTG EdgeSeq chemistry was critical to establish the ability to scale from our current targeted panels of less than 3,000 targets to measuring approximately 20,000 targets, while maintaining the advantages of our HTG EdgeSeq technology,” said Marian Navratil, Vice President of Research and Development. “Additionally,
