The life-or-death journey made by mule deer during the second-longest big game migration in North America came down to their ability to squeeze through a fence—a discovery made by scientists using wildlife GPS tracking techniques to map animal migrations in the West in unprecedented detail.

The resulting atlas of migration corridors in Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming published by the U.S. Geological Survey can help elk, mule deer, antelope and other animals by focusing efforts to reduce man-made obstacles along their journeys, biologists and wildlife advocates say.

“The new technology, the GPS collars and the computer programs that are able to analyze this data, is giving us such a different picture of what migrating wildlife do,” said Miles Moretti, president of the Salt Lake City-based Mule Deer Foundation, which funded some of the research. “This has given us some information like we’ve never had

Referee David Coote awarded the Baggies a penalty early in the second half after adjudging Fernandes had fouled Conor Gallagher but changed his mind after a video ref prompt.

That was despite TV replays appearing to show United’s Portuguese star whacking Gallagher’s shin.

Minutes later Coote awarded United a penalty for handball against Semi Ajayi — even though the Baggies player had his back turned.

Coote’s decision was supported by VAR and Fernandes converted the twice-taken spot kick after video technology

Internet Can’t Be Wild West, EU’s Breton Tells Google CEO Pichai | Technology News

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Europe’s industry chief Thierry Breton has warned Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai that he plans to rein in U.S. tech giants via a raft of new rules to curb the excesses of a “Wild West” internet.

Breton issued the warning in a video-conference call with Pichai late on Thursday, according to a statement from the European Commision.

The comments came after a Google internal document outlined a 60-day strategy to counter the European Union’s push for tough new tech rules by getting U.S. allies to push back against Breton.

The call was initiated by Google before the document was leaked.

Breton will announce new draft rules known as the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act together with European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager on Dec. 2.

The rules will set out a list of do’s and don’ts for gatekeepers – online companies with market power – forcing

PS5 Ad Gives Launch Window for Horizon: Forbidden West

A new PlayStation 5 ad confirms the current release window for Sony’s upcoming slate of exclusive games. The video details when highly anticipated games like Horizon: Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 are coming in 2021.

The one-minute video features a reel of game footage, which includes both launch games and subsequent titles. Horizon: Forbidden West: Anticipated second half of 2021.”

While still somewhat vague, those time frames do bring Sony’s 2021 plans more into focus. Sony previously said that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart would release in the console’s “launch window,” making it one of the console’s biggest exclusives following launch day. Details on Gran Turismo 7 have been comparatively sparse, though the release window lines up with one that appeared
