Three Product Concepts from OPPO

At INNO DAY 2020, the smartphone brand introduced three new concept products that would “define future technological exploration”

A short while ago, consumer electronics and mobile communications OPPO held its OPPO INNO DAY 2020 event with “Leap into the Future” as the theme. A major talking point at the event was the company’s 3+N+X technology development strategy, with the “3” referring to the three underlying technologies, namely hardware, software and services technologies; the “N” representing a number of OPPO’s essential capabilities, including AI, security and privacy, multimedia, and interconnectivity; and the “X” referring to the leading-edge and differentiated technologies and strategic resources.

That being said, arguably the most memorable part of INNO DAY 2020 was when OPPO introduced three new concept products, each showcasing a different technological innovation that we will no doubt see in future OPPO products.

First up is the OPPO X 2021 rollable concept handset. As that definition implies, this phone features major innovations in flexible display and structural stacking, which are meant to create a more natural interactive experience for users. Design wise, the OPPO X 2021 features three of OPPO’s proprietary technologies, including the Roll Motor powertrain, 2-in-1 Plate and self-developed Warp Track high-strength screen laminate. These allow the phone to have a continuously variable OLED display that measures as small as 6.7 inches and as large as 7.4 inches, which allows users to adjust the size of the display based on actual needs.

Next is the OPPO AR Glass 2021. This lightweight wearable tech design features diverse sensors, including stereo fisheye camera, one ToF sensor, and one RGB camera. The OPPO AR Glass 2021 supports a number of natural interactions, including interactions via smartphone, gesture-based interactions, and spatial localization.

Last but not least is OPPO’s CybeReal AR application, which enables high-precision localization and scene recognition, and is supported by OPPO’s three core technologies, including accurately reconstructing the world to the centimetres, real-time high-precision localization, and OPPO Cloud, enriching user’s perception and understanding of the real world.
